Yes, you read that right. For the students in Dr. Elizabeth Dunaway’s Intro to Psychology class, learning about the process of neurotransmission got a whole lot easier, with the help of Hershey’s Kisses.

To learn about the neuron, students became parts of the neuron.  (Not literally.)

The process began with Dr. Dunaway throwing "neurotransmitters," a.k.a Hershey's Kisses, at the students playing the role of  "dendrites."

Students then passed "sodium ions" (index cards labeled Na+) down the "cell body," the "axon," and the "axon terminals."

The best part? When the "sodium ions" have reached the students playing the "axon terminals," students got to throw "neurotransmitters" (Hershey's kisses) to the rest of the class.
